Director's Proposal

I think that an interesting scene to do would be She Used to Be Mine from the musical Waitress.It would only be one character.  I want to show the character's struggle but instead of the fear of growing baby, I want to show her fear of hope. It is a very emotional and deep song about someone who goes through a lot of internal and external struggle and losing control of their own life. The character wants to bring back the "light in their eyes". I want to portray the character as not giving up, but bringing back more hope for themselves. I want the driving force to be the new possibilities they see in themselves instead of the baby she will care for. I want this song to portray heartbreak, loss, but show the character remembering who they were and wanting to bring that lost person back again.
